Stand Up Paddle Race Season in Florida

Stand up paddle boarding does not have an official 'off-season' for racing. However, the winter months are generally much slower when it comes to the SUP race schedule. The first big race of the Florida stand up paddle season are the Florida State Paddleboard Championships at the end of March. This is a great event for stand up paddlers of all skill levels. Water Monkey owner, Chase Kosterlitz, is the two time Florida State defending champion. If you are interested in becoming a better paddler than you need to get your technique dialed in. Water Monkey is open through the winter months. Many people in the Tampa Bay/St. Pete area don't realize that December through February offer some of the most perfect days for stand up paddle boarding. One of our most popular stand up paddle trips is our Ft. Desoto Nature Tour. Ft. Desoto is my favorite place to go stand up paddle boarding in the Tampa Bay area. The water is usually at its clearest during these months. The clear water allows stand up paddle boarders to see straight into the water. We often encounter dolphins, manatee, birds and fish during our Ft. Desoto tours. Stand up paddle boarding in the Ft. Desoto area is a fun and exciting way to enjoy the sport.  View Full Post
